New Delhi, 21 March 2015: Post his brilliant performance for Delhi Waveriders in the forward position in the recently culminated third edition of the Hero Hockey India League 2015, Talwinder Singh gets into contention for a berth in the National squad of the Indian Men Hockey team. He is part of the core probable’s Men’s team which is presently training under the new Chief Coach Paul van Ass at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi.
Speaking on the sidelines of the practice session today Talwinder Singh said “I consider myself truly lucky as I played with the world’s greatest hockey players during the Hockey India League. I always looked upto Lloyd Norris-Jones and Jason Wilson and this time I had a chance to play alongside them. I knew this was a great opportunity for me and I picked up many tricks seeing them play, which I started inculcating in my play. Things like breaking the defence chain and entering the D was something which I picked up after seeing them. Also working on speed was key and which I am working on myself in the training sessions presently”.
The 24th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup at Malaysia will be played from 5 April 2015 – 12 April 2015 and six teams will be seen fighting it out for the title. India will play their first match against Korea at 15.40 IST on 5 April 2015.
